Cafe Style/Double Hung
Cafe style means that the shutter is shorter than the window height and finished at the top. Double Hung means that you are ordering 2 separate shutters for the same window. The top has its own set of hinges and the bottom also has their own separate hinges.

Center Stile Options
Butt style is only used for a single panel configuration. Rabbet is used most often for split panels but the window must be square or light will pass through the center. Astragal is the default stile as it can hide many out of square window problems

Divider Rail
A divider rail is used to add support to a shutter panel, any shutter over 78 inches has to have one. The customer must tell us in the order comment box where they want the divider rail from the bottom to center of the panel.

Hidden Tilt Option
Norman offers visible tilt bar in center at no charge. Hidden tilt is a built in tilt where you simply lift and lower the louvers with no visible bar. This also keeps a more open view.

Mounting Frames
Mounting frames are used at times when you have no molding to mount the shutter to. Z frames are very helpful when mounting to a dry wall trimmed window frame. If a Z frame is too much trim, then a mounting strip is a good choice. This gives you flexibility for that stubborn, out of square window. Many customers like to mount their shutter directly to the molding. L frames are for outside or inside mount. For an outside mount L frame, you will place the "L" frame at the edge of the window opening. The shutter will be approx. 3" wider than ordered shutter width from frame to frame of outside edge. For an inside mount L frame, you will deduct 1/8" to fit max frame to frame outside.

Features and Benefits

Wood composite materials used are harvested from well-managed forests and finished with a polypropylene coating that prevents moisture absorption and allows for easy stain removal. ABS co-polymer louvers are dimensionally stable, which resist cupping, warping and twisting. Woodcore Plus shutters combine wood composite frames with durable ABS louvers for more stability for larger size shutters. The standard Woodcore collection remains an excellent choice for standard size windows.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS -PLEASE READ PRIOR TO ORDERING

General Measuring:

Measuring and installing shutters is more involved than blinds or shades. It is important to have a solid understanding of the shutter options and designs to know what will work best for your application. Consumers who choose to order online are 100% responsible for how they order their online shutters. As with all custom products, this product is NOT returnable. If you are unsure about measuring or installing this product, we suggest seeking a local retailer to assist with your project.

Direct Mount (Inside Mount) is the simple to measure for. Measure exact inside width and height rounding down to nearest 1/16". If installing Inside Mount, be sure your window opening is SQUARE. ID the window is off by more than 1/8", it is not suggested to install as Inside Mount.

There are depth requirements for Inside mount shutter installation. A minimum of 2 full uninterrupted depth minimum is best. This means free of latches, handles, etc.

For Direct Inside Mount, (no frame) Here are the general louver requirements:

For a 2.5 inch louver You will need 2" depth

For 3" inch louver You will need 2 3/8" depth

For 4" louver You will need 2 7/8" depth

For Outside Mount, You will need to choose a frame. We suggest ordering frame to frame size with Deco frames and Outside Moutn with window opening sizes for Z frames. It is up tot the consumer to research and be well versed o n the frame options and sizes needed for frames. All of that information is shown in schematic picture of all the frames.

IMPORTANT: Split Tilt needs to be measured from the bottom of the shutter up to where you prefer the controls to be split. If this is not provided, we will assume you are choosing split tilt evenly/center.

Divider rail needs to also be measured from the bottom of the shutter up to where you prefer or we will assume to evenly distibute at the center. All split or divides do vary by the design of your chosen shutter. The splits/divides can be off slightly from your requested measurement.

While shopping for a composite shutter, I happened on www.blindsexpress.com and was pleasantly surprised with the price for these Norman Shutters. Locally dealers wanted at least $500 more for the exact same product. The shutter has been installed now for 6 months in our Texas heat, without any change. Do you charge for shipping?

Shipping is included in most products online. The exceptions are Norm Brand and freight sizes. Shipping fees will be seen prior to ordering in your cart. There may be freight exceptions depending on quantity of freight items in your order. All vendors have different freight policies. So you may receive an email or call in the unusual circumstance where additional charges apply.

Hawaii and Alaska Deliveries: Surcharges are online and will apply to your order for most products shipping to Alaska or Hawaii. However there are some cases with larger orders, etc where you may get a call from us with additional charges for orders shipping here.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping of your custom product(s) with few exceptions take between 2-3 weeks from the time of ordering. Our Quick Ship branded products usually ship within 5 business days depending on the current supply and demand of the product.

All products are custom so the factories take time to process and make each item.

Exceptions:

Freight items over 90 inches will take a few days longer as they ship by freight handlers. Shutters and some woven wood programs take longer than 2-3 weeks. The 4 Week Norm Shutter program usually arrives within 4-5 weeks. All other Shutter programs take approximately 7-10 weeks. As will all shipping, holidays will affect the ship times.
