Blinds for a Purpose

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Wood blinds have amazing effects on your home. They are perfect for that early afternoon movie, when the sun is peeking through the windows and creating a glare on the television. They are also perfect for obtaining a little privacy, and great for preventing windy drafts from entering the room. Window shades are also great for the same reasons, and give a different appeal to the room. You can choose from roller shades, and soft sheer shades, depending on your personal preference. Wood blinds and window shades are worth purchasing and checking out, and will make your home one that you will be even more pleased with.

Children Safety

Friday, June 15th, 2007

When cords on window blinds and shades are low enough for children to reach, children can become entangled in the cords and accidentally strangle. There are several ways to prevent this from happening and help with window blinds safety. Here are just a few:

1.      Purchase cordless shades

2.      Install tie-down devices for looping cords

3.      Install cord stops

4.      Eliminate looping cords all together

Removing Slats on Blinds

Follow these basic steps to remove the extra slats on the bottom of your window blinds. First remove the plugs on the bottom rail and pull out the strings. Untie the lift cord and remove the bottom rail and the number of desired blind slats. Replace the bottom rail into the blinds and then retie the knots making sure the blinds are level. Cut the extra cords and put the excess cords into the bottom rail and replace the plugs.

Functionality and choice

If you are of the opinion that it doesn’t matter what covers your windows, then you need to consider what they are for. One function is, of course, to make the room look good. There’s no doubt about what the right window coverings can do for a room, whether you want to go for decorative or no-nonsense. But another thing they do is keep the room cool by insulating against the sun’s rays. Curtains or window blinds, it doesn’t matter.

Roman Shades

Graceful—that’s one word that has often been used to describe Roman shades. They’re made of fabric, and so they are practically curtains. If you like the solid comfort of curtains with the ease of other styles of window coverings, then these are really the way to go. The type of fabric you go with on these will determine what kind of light filters into your room as well. They are not only clean and neat-looking, but highly atmospheric.

Solar Screen Shades

If you like the sun shining through your house or apartment, but don’t like the bright glare from the sun, and like to look outside, then solar screen shades are what you need. They do an excellent job of blocking the sun, but are translucent so that you can see through them. They provide you with comfort as well, because they prevent drafts, and also can be used to increase the temperature with their thermal capabilities. Solar screen shades are great window shades for your living space. You will be amazed by what they can do to enhance your comfort and provide a stylish look at the same time.

privacy

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Let’s face it, when we are at home, we don’t want people looking in through our windows and watching us. For providing the best results in privacy and appeal, then roman shades and wood blinds are both intelligent choices. They come in a wide range of styles and colors, and can be used in any way you wish. You can use them for privacy, for keeping the sun in check, and for preventing cool drafts from entering your home. They are made out of the most quality materials, and can fit in almost any window made. For the best security in privacy, roman shades and wood blinds are seriously the best options. They look great, and they are effective.

attractive blinds

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Just because you aren’t using curtains doesn’t mean you won’t have an attractive window. Wood blinds can give your room a nice, clean look. Not overly showy. If they’re too expensive for your budget right now, though, consider getting some faux wood blinds. They look just as attractive, at only a fraction of the cost. Remember that you have choices when it comes to decorating a room, and that you have to take every single detail into account.

insulation and appearance

If you are concerned about how much insulation your office is receiving, then perhaps honeycomb shades are your best bet. They tend to trap air in the individual cells, and that trapped air works to cool a room in warm weather and heat it in cold weather. If you’re concerned about what they look like, don’t worry. They don’t look much different from any other window shades unless you look closely at them. Then they look better. Roman shades are also very attractive, resembling great folks of fabric.

personal preference

Friday, June 15th, 2007

When it comes right down to it, what you put on your windows have more to do with personal preference than anything else. For instance, if you like Roman shades enough to purchase some, you are going to be faced with deciding whether you like tear drop shades or the flat style. You can have either. You have to decide, in essence, just how decorative you want your windows to be.
